National Curry Week

National Curry Week

The temperature may be dropping, but this week marks National Curry Week in the UK, so things are about to heat up again! With an average of 8,100 Brits searching for recipes each month, it appears that Chicken Tikka Masala is the UK’s favourite curry – that’s 1,500 more than the second favourite, Chicken Korma.

So how did curry get its name?

Curry was adopted and anglicised from the Tamil word Kari meaning ‘sauce’, which is usually understood to mean vegetable and/or meat cooked with spices, with or without a gravy. (Thanks Wikipedia for the definition). To celebrate, we have put together this appetising infographic featuring some interesting facts about the nations favourite takeaway.
